How does your employer rate..?
Help us to find what employers are doing well at by rating each of the categories below. Move each slider towards the description that matches better or leave it where it is.
It's really just a fancy 1 to 5 scale.
How transparent are pay and responsibilities at your work?
Pay and responsibilities are vibes based
Defined pay grades with clear objectives, responsibilities, and paths for progression
How secure do you feel your work is?
The company could have loads of cash or go under tomorrow - I have no idea
My employer is transparent on our financial health and we are offered permanent contracts where possible
How sensible is your employer’s non-compete policy?
If I leave this job it will be hard to continue working in the field
Any non-compete clauses in my contract won’t interfere with my securing future jobs
How is your work/life balance?
I was railroaded into opting out of the working time directive and we experience regular crunch periods
I have the right to switch off outside of my contracted working hours and the workers have a voice in dictating what those hours/any on-call duties look like
How strong are your rights to your intellectual property?
My employer owns any original thoughts I have
I own my personal code and have a right to re-use it. I also have full rights to any project I do outside of contracted work
How good is your employer on flexible work?
We have to be in the office full time and are penalised formally or informally if we aren’t
People can choose remote or part-time work without it affecting their progression
Where does your employer stand on diversity and inclusion?
The workplace is a bad stereotype of Silicon Valley. People with protected characteristics tend not to last long and are paid less
There are no pay gaps; there are strong policies on inclusion of the protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010; all members of staff are properly trained; employees are taken on on the merit of their experience
How strong are your ethical protections at work?
If I question the use of my labour, I know it will not end well for me
I have the right to withhold my labour from projects that I object to on ethical bases. I would feel confident whistleblowing if there was a problem
How much does your employer centre sustainability?
We never discuss it and it isn’t treated as important at all
It is central to our project. We have fully divested from fossil fuels and we discuss sustainability as a central feature in everything we do.
